Hey, you know -- who can't get enough of the 600+ HP 2009 Corvette ZR1? We know we can't -- which is why we sent Team
Jalopnik photographer Sherry Kraft down to the show floor to get us some more shots of Chevy's new super-hotness. We hope you enjoy these close-up and friendly shots. We did, and we ain't even dragons.

Oh yeah, that's it baby, that's it -- work it girl! Work -- oh wait, something's not right. We know why -- that's not a model up there. Nope, it's the
2009 Corvette ZR1 -- unveiled here at the
GM Style event tonight for it's first ever public unveiling. For a moment we thought maybe it was just some insanely beautiful woman. Also, we thought we were a
dragon. Shoot -- wrong on both counts. Still some sexy metal -- and an amazingly sexy engine. Click the link if you've been living in a cave bereft of any and all automotive news and need to know more about Chevy's new
super-Corvette. And yes, to clear up any questions, that is Kid Rock behind the ZR1 and yes, that is Jeff Gordon driving it down the runway. But, what truly made the evening amazing was none other than Run of Run D.M.C. jumping out on stage to bust some rhymes -- or whatever it is them thar rappers do. We were too busy gaping at the ZR1 to notice much of what else was going on. Mary J. who?

Who knew? Seriously -- we're here at the GM Style event and although the place is chock full of pretty people and faux hipsters -- it's unfortunately seemingly rather bereft of the "cars" at the moment. But for a site like
Jalopnik, cars
are the stars and supposedly we'll be seeing a very special one tonight -- it's the 600+ HP
2009 Corvette ZR1 -- and we're absolutely tingling with excitement and anticipation. So, keep checking back this evening and we'll keep you up-to-date on our first sighting of GM's super-duper car. For the moment be content with a car-star -- GM's Rick Wagoner. He looks totally hawt tonight, OMG!

Although you'll be able to see it for yourself if you're in town for the
Detroit Auto Show next month (or watch the coverage live here on Jalopnik!), you still won't be able to see the new
2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1 the way we're showing it to you right now. If you'll remember, we were the first to show you the unofficial shots of the new
2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1's beautiful 620+ HP LS9 engine. Next we brought you the in-cockpit camera footage of the
ZR1 taking a lap at Laguna. Then we had the opportunity to show off all of the pictures and details on the new up-powered
Corvette ZR1. Now we're going to go a little bit more in-depth, showing off all the little bits n' pieces of the supercharged small-block V8 engine under the hood of Zee-Really fast One. Above, you'll find the LS9 completely exploded and below, you'll find all the little bits n' pieces in the detail you know you need. Specific press release on the LS9 below the jump.

Auto Buff Book Gets Feelings Hurt, Not REALLY a Bunch of Sleazy D-Bags I got a call -- a 29-minute phone call, actually -- last night from Angus Mackenzie, Editor-in-Chief of
Motor Trend. Apparently he was quite offended by our little site calling them a "sleazy bunch of d-bags" on
the Corvette ZR1 post we ran on Thursday for being the first to break the embargoed news on the internet. After explaining to me that they didn't actually break the embargo because they received a copy of
AutoWeek on their desk a few hours before the embargo broke, and since a printed magazine sent to a subscriber is
totally the exact same as a mass communication medium like the internet, he went ahead and decided to "scoop" the rest of the world by running his
copy of the press release story. Although I explained we use this thing called "sarcasm" and this other thing called "snark" here on this site -- he wasn't buying it.

Detroit Auto Show Bad Boy Vettes on the Jakegasm Inside the 2009 Corvette ZR1 So in case you weren't around, yesterday's big product story was the
Hennessey 650R Nissan GT-R 0-60 time new 2009 Corvette ZR1. And although we're pretty excited we'll be seeing it live at next month's
Detroit Auto Show, there were some folks even more excited than us -- like the 'Vette-madmen at
BadBoyVettes. You see, in case you didn't notice,
"Jake" the Corvette racing skull, made its way into the engine bay of the new uber-Vette and let's just say those Corvette-loving boys are having a -gasm of some sort over the graphic this morning. Would that be a Jakegasm? No wait, maybe it's a Jakegasm? Whatever it is, here's what they have to say about it:
2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

This is it. The speculation, rumors and half-truths can now be set aside -- this is the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, officially revealed for all the world to see. Powered by a supercharged LS9 6.2L small-block engine, the ZR1 hasn't even received an official horsepower number from the engineers toiling away at the General. All Harlan Charles, project manager for the Corvette team was able to tell us last week was the new high-powered 'Vette engine is "capable of producing at least 100 horsepower per liter. That's at least 620 horsepower, and approximately 595 lb.-ft. of torque." Chevrolet wasn't even able to give us a time on the 0-60. Charles was only willing to say "it's in the low three seconds." The small-block engine under the hood is only able to hit those massive numbers due to the addition of the positive-displacement Roots-type supercharger with a new, four-lobe rotor design plus an integrated charge cooling system that reduces inlet air temperature for increased performance. That's the "go" end, but the "whoa" end is just as impressive. The ZR1 gets some simply huge carbon-ceramic, drilled disc brake rotors. They're so big and are required to be so powerful they're using the same 15-inch-diameter discs found on the front of a Ferrari 599. Except on the ZR1, they go on the 20" tires in the rear. In the front, they'll be getting even larger 15.5-inch-diameter rotors. Yup, they're simply breathtaking to see up-close. For the time being everyone else will have to check out the gallery below or the full press release after the jump.
In case anyone's wondering -- the magazine and website all about the Trend in Motors are the sleazy bunch of d-bags who broke the embargo seven hours early. We just followed suit. We'll have more time to talk about that later -- now go and read the press release and look at the pretty pictures.2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 In Blue

Somehow we think maybe the
2009 Corvette ZR1 pre-
Detroit Auto Show embargo will be lifting sometime
very soon. It's the only explanation we can come up with for why Nissan felt compelled to have an embargo on the
2009 GTR's Z06-beating Edmunds Inside Line 0-60 test lift late last night. OK, maybe that was just a freak scheduling
thing -- but then, like a bolt out of the blue
devil, we received a press release just past midnight from Hennessey Performance Engineering calling out the Lutzian devil with
the blue highlighted engine. Apparently they weren't quite done with the 2008 Viper SRT10. The boys at Hennessey came up with an additional 78 horsepower to add atop the straight-from-the-shelf 600 found in the fang-toothed serpent, bringing the total horses up to a staggering 678 and a 0-60 time to match that of the 3.3-second GT-R. It's called the 2008 Hennessey Venom 650R, and oh, how they rushed this one to bed -- someone check out the gaping hole below the jump in the press release for
"fill in original Viper model name here". Yes, somehow methinks these won't be the only high horsepower numbers we'll be comparing by the time we hit the hay tonight.

We heard an interesting comment from a PR staffer from the General last week that made us kind of wonder about whether GM's Chevy brand would be sticking to
the ZR1 name reported by MotorTrend's Todd "Motor City Blogman" Lassa a couple of months ago. After I mentioned how I'm eagerly anticipating the ZR1's debut at the
Detroit Auto Show in January I heard a quickly silenced laugh and the comment "If they ever end up sticking to one name." That suspicious comment combined with
the very blue-colored engine cowl shots of the Corvette Blue Devil ZR1 SS Z07 we posted last night make us believe maybe the name really is in flux. We guess we'll have to wait and see if maybe this whole "ZR1" thing is nothing but
"chasing bloggers' stories." All we know is those engine shots from
last night are still up and no shock troopers banged the door down so we think we're in the clear.

This is it. Thanks to an anonymous tipster we have what appear to be the very first and clearest shots yet procured of the 2009 LS9 6.2-liter V8 engine powering
the 2009 Corvette ZR1 -- something we weren't expecting to see until the
Detroit Auto Show in January. But, since information yearns to be free -- and whoa, nelly, do these shots show off some serious information on what will be the most serious piece of weaponry in the General's quiver come next year -- here they are and here's what we know. Essentially what you're looking at is what appears to be a standard twin-screw-type supercharger mounted below a highly efficient air-to-water intercooler system. Now, we can't speculate if it's tied into the engine system or if it has an independent radiator system -- but we feel pretty confident all of this is a one-off, which means the General's running the show on every single horsepower above and beyond the stock horse output from the 6.2-liter V8 it all sits atop. Gearheads, your engine pr0n awaits in the photogallery below. While you check that out we're going to go and hide from GM's shock troopers. Hey, does anyone know the number for the witness protection program?

SEMA 2007: APS Twin-Turbos The C6 ZO6 LS7 Engine The folks over at Air Power Systems decided the 505 horses of stock output from the Z06's LS7 engine just wasn't enough for them. So the turbo-lovin' young punks took the stock engine and developed themselves a twin turbocharger kit, which they claim brings the engine's output up to an amazing 1100 rear-wheel HP. Nice -- who needs to wait for the Detroit Auto Show and the reveal of the new supercharged
2009 Corvette ZR1 when you can build yourself an APS-engineered turbocharged Corvette Z06? Well, you won't get
the neat-o see-through plastic hood.

Holy Hood, Corvette ZR1! Guess we know for sure now that not only does
the new 2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1 have a polycarbonate hole in the hood, we also know for sure exactly how big it is well in advance of the debut at the Detroit Auto Show. We also know it'll show off -- umm -- gray plastic? Umm -- right. Anyway, thank you very much random tipster guy who e-mailed us this shot we're assuming was taken at
Monterey last weekend. Thank you
very much. Higher-resolution shot

2009 Corvette ZR1 Spotted At Laguna Seca, $1000 Bounty Goes Unawarded
Sorry folks, it looks like even with our legions of loyal readers seeking a quick buck by way of
our ground-breaking $1000 bounty on spy photos of the
2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1, it just wasn't enough to beat some kid in a forum. That's where we found this shot of the new super-Vette which apparently hit the track this afternoon for some hot laps in the hot Monterey sun. We now hear it's been boarded back up in its truck and is now Detroit-bound. But fear not, we won't be deterred. It's obvious we just need to snag some change from under the couch cushions to drop into the basket for our next bounty. Maybe we'll even double the price and see if we can snap shots of Zee Really fast One with even less camo -- like none at all. [via

The Post Where We Offer $1000 for Pictures of the 2009 Corvette ZR1 At Laguna Seca UPDATE:We have a winner -- sorta. OK, not really -- but we do have video! We're pretty excited about the not-yet-revealed
2009 Chevy Corvette ZR1 doing some hot laps at the season-ending ALMS race at Laguna Seca this weekend. We'd really like to be there ourselves. Unfortunately none of us can make it due to the
Tokyo Auto Show. So here's the deal -- we're going to do something no blog's ever done before. Since we still want to see the 650-HP monster-Vette lap the track we're placing a bounty on the head of
the pretty "Victory Yellow" 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 just snapped by the very naughty young lads at
BadBoyVettes. A
one thousand dollar bounty! Seriously! A thousand bucks to the first person who sends us shots of the 'Vette in all of its glory in the paddock and out on the track. There are of course, just a few caveats, for which you'll need to hit the jump.

2009 Corvette ZR1 WILL Lap Laguna Seca This Weekend! UPDATE: We offer a $1000 cash bounty for spy shots of the Corvette ZR1 this weekend! Bad Boy Vettes has snagged themselves a shot of
the 2009 Corvette ZR1 sitting pretty in a trailer and painted in "Velocity Yellow" -- well before it's expected Detroit Auto Show unveiling in January. While we too have quite a number of spy shots of the ZR1 already (as evidenced below), what we have now is confirmation to the rumors we'd heard from multiple sources that the new 650 HP super-Corvette WILL be lapping the track at Monterey this weekend for the ALMS season-ending race at Laguna Seca. If that's not enough to floor you, we'll have something very important to announce ourselves in about an hour -- so if you'll be in attendance at Monterey this weekend, you may want to stay tuned.

First 2009 Corvette ZR1 To Be Sold At Barrett-Jackson? According to the breathless one, the first
2009 Corvette ZR-1 will be sold at the Barrett-Jackson car auction in Scottsdale, Arizona mere days after the official reveal at the Detroit Auto Show in January. The annual auction's set to take place January 12-20 2008 -- so if Josh is right, and you want to get your hands on the first of these 650 HP super-vettes, you'll apparently need to snag yourself a plane ticket and go raisin' Arizona come January. We'll of course be live in Detroit to show you the official reveal of the devilish 'vette we've seen in
test mule shots,
spy photos,
spy videos and as one of us was coming out of
a secured military compound GM facility earlier this week, in person. [via

UPDATE: The 2009 Corvette ZR1 has now been officially revealed! These appear to be the best non-engine bay shots yet of the new-for-2009 up-charged Corvette ZR-1 (or SS, Mako Shark, Blue Devil, or whatever
folks want to call it these days). Although one thing we do know is if it's going to be called ZR-1 with that new 6.2L supercharged small-block
nuclear reactor powerplant that's expected to be under the hood, then the name probably could stand for "Zee Really fast 1." We're expecting this new 'vette to bow at the Detroit Auto Show in January. Full scoop from spy shooter Brenda Priddy after the jump -- more pictures coming momentarily.

The 2009 Corvette ZR1 Is The Corvette SS, Blue Devil, Mako Shark, Z07 Or Whatever Chevrolet's reputed 650-horsepower 2009 Corvette's been called by enthusiasts the "
Blue Devil," the "
Super Sport," the "
Mako Shark," the "
Z07" and all sorts of
other monikers -- but according to Todd Lassa,
Motor Trend's Motor City Blogman, the up-powered 2009 Corvette will be officially called "ZR1." It's a badge with
a wee bit o' history and according to Todd, it will appear on the car they'll be showing at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show in January and on the production version that will go on sale later next year as a 2009 model. Much like
the facts provided by the boys at Popular Mechanics, Lassa's also telling us they'll still be using the supercharged version of the new 6.2-liter V8 -- the same used in the 2008 Corvette that we've already seen
shots of. Lassa's also got the scoop that the price will be "much higher than the 505-horsepower Z06" which Chevy will still continue to build post-launch of the "ZR1." Full gallery of production mule shots of whatever the new Corvette will be called below. [via

Corvette ZR1 - Or Whatever - Powertrain Mule
Fact Versus Fiction On The New Hyper-Amazing Corvette SS Or Whatever The boys at
Popular Mechanics seem to be fed up with all the rumor-mongering going on out there in the internet chat rooms, the enthusiast forums and the (gasp!)
blogosphere about the next-gen super-Corvette. This is the same Corvette Super-Super (or whatever) the General's designed to compete with and blow away the 600 HP Dodge Viper SRT10. To combat and beat down anyone talking any of that false jive, they've put always-on-the-prowl spy photographer Jim Dunne on the case to come up with the top five rumors and then do his due diligence to either bunk or debunk them.
